    2015 Inspection Tour Canceled   Jun 19, 2015

During a meeting held on June 9th, the Board of Directors voted to cancel the 2015 Inspection tour. While Inspection applications came from five of the six Regions, the applicant pool was such that no single site met the requirements necessary to stand up a site. Board members discussed several alternatives including extending the application deadline and standing up east and west coast sites. At the end of the day, the conclusion was drawn that extending the deadline would not necessarily guarantee the requisite number of applications and an east and west coast alternative would cause significant travel for members.  Read more...

Kiko and Boo’s Great Adventure to World Equestrian Bronze!   Aug 14, 2014

Enjoy this article by IDHSNA member Boo Fitch on her very great adventure representing the United States in the 2014 FEI World Para Equestrian Driving Championships on her own Kiko an Irish Draught Sport Horse!

After much planning, organizing, and packing we were ready to leave. June 10 dawned very early. Kiko and Gloria Ripperton left at 4:45 am for JFK Airport in New York. They arrived uneventfully about 2pm. They boarded the plane to Amsterdam about 10:30pm. I flew out of Dulles meeting another member of our team, Mary Garren, there as well. Kiko flew very well, but upon landing, Gloria said she whinnied and started pawing. I think the sentiment was "get me outta here we are on the ground now" Gloria and Kiko were picked up by a commercial van and hauled the rest of the way to Koos and Marie De Rondes farm. She arrived very tired and it took about 4 days of rest and hand walking and grazing to regain her energy.  Read more...

Cannon Bone Report   Jun 07, 2012

During the March 15, 2012 Board of Director's meeting, under agenda item 9, the Board discussed an opportunity to conduct an analysis of the relationship between height and cannon bone measurements and trends in the Irish Draught herd. Two members of the IDHSNA were willing to conduct the independent study and provide the results to the Board. The Board voted unanimously to provide the data to Chris Neher and Karen Young.

Draft versions of the report were submitted to Board of Directors in April and May of 2012 for review, questions, and comments. On June 5, 2012 the revised final report incorporating and addressing all submitted comments and suggestions was delivered to the Board of Directors.

The Board has chosen to make this final independent study available to the membership. It is attached for your review.

    Thank you.
